SS2 - SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING (STCW)

Introduction: Presentation of the trainees, identification of the group's level of knowledge and the expectations of each trainee, and presentation of the teaching method adapted to the context of the session by the trainer. The trainer then presents the training objectives and the following program:
  • Concept of maritime security
  • Generalities, history of maritime security, maritime security policy, Definitions
  • Threats to security
  • Current security threats and their various forms, characteristics and behavior of persons likely to threaten ship security (on a non-discriminatory basis), weapons and dangerous substances and devices
  • Techniques used to circumvent security measures
  • Failure of security equipment, techniques used by pirates to board ships at sea, techniques used by malicious persons to board ships in port.
  • Measures to enhance maritime security
  • Security equipment and systems, security levels, searches of ship, spaces, unaccompanied baggage, access control, handling of security-sensitive information and communications
  • Passenger management and control techniques
  • General behavioral patterns of people in groups, importance of clear communication with shipboard personnel, port facility staff, passengers and others involved
  • Theoretical approach to physical searches of persons (security palpations), personal effects, baggage, packages, cargo on loading and ship's stores on embarkation.

Conclusion: Questions/answers, consolidation and evaluation of acquired knowledge, training assessment and evaluation.

To ensure the effectiveness of this training course, trainees should be aware of the conditions under which it will be carried out before the start of the course.
